Abstract
Abstract
The humidity of indoor air greatly affects the effect of
formaldehyde removal by catalyst.Herein, we chose the
Ce0.8Zr0.2Oy catalyst catalytic
oxidation to remove formaldehyde and investigated the effect of
humidity on catalyst activity by adjusting moisture content in this
process. The experimental results showed that the formaldehyde
removal rate increased with the increase of humidity, but when the
humidity was greater than 50%, the formaldehyde removal rate
decreased by 3%. Characterization results illustrated that humidity
was conducive to the activation of oxygen and the generation of
hydroxyl, both of which promoted the formation and oxidative
decomposition of intermediates, but also prevented their
deposition, blocking the pore, so that more formaldehyde was
adsorbed and oxidized, thus improving the activity of the
catalyst. This provide a new mechanism for the oxidation of
formaldehyde and help to design relatively cheap formaldehyde
purification materials.
