Abstract
Abstract
A novel polymer composite has been developed by incorporating both alkali-treated and untreated banana fibres into an epoxy resin matrix. Using a hand layup technique, composite laminates were created by adding nano magnesium oxides as filler material with varying loadings (0.5%, 1%, and 1.5% wt) to the epoxy matrix. To further understand the characteristics of Nano MgO, X-ray diffraction synthesis was examined. An investigation was conducted to examine the impact of Nano magnesium oxide on the tensile and hardness characteristics. The 1.5% weight Mgo reinforced laminates exhibited a significant enhancement in characteristics when compared to the untreated banana fibre laminates. This phenomenon can be attributed to the enhanced dispersion and contact between the banana fibres and the epoxy in the composites, which facilitates a more effective transfer of stress at the interface.
