Abstract
Abstract
Lignocellulosic nanofiber (LCNF) has been recognized as an promising candidate for multifunctional biological coatings. In this work, LCNF was produced in a one-pot approach from high yield pulp (HYP) with different meshes using polymerizable deep eutectic solvent (DES) comprising choline chloride (ChCl) and acrylic acid (AA). The DES-treatment did not alter the chemical properties of LCNF and employment of this LCNF/DES coating endowed the paper with improved hydrophobicity, tensile-strain, and electrical conductivity. Of particular interest is that the LCNF60/DES coated paper presented outstanding fire-resistant properties. This work contributes knowledge to develop an eco-friendly and inexpensive approach by using the most abundant bioresource, lignocellulosic biomass, to produce multifunctional paper and advance the development of the application of LCNF.
