Abstract
Background
Thymic cysts, encompassing 1–3% of mediastinal masses, pose diagnostic challenges. This case series delves deeper into the even rarer intra-thymic bronchogenic cysts, requiring post-surgical histopathological examination for definitive diagnosis.
Case Presentation
We present four patients (37–45 years) with intra-thymic bronchogenic cysts showcasing diverse presentations: a 41-year-old female with an incidentally discovered large anterior mediastinal mass; a 37-year-old male with a mass adherent to the superior vena cava found during a routine checkup; a 45-year-old male experiencing recurrent chest pain with a cyst extending into the left paratracheal space; and a 39-year-old female with persistent cough, hemoptysis, and a lesion near the brachiocephalic vein.
Conclusions
This case series highlights the variable presentations and underscores the importance of considering intra-thymic bronchogenic cysts in diagnosing anterior mediastinal masses. Surgical intervention remains crucial for definitive diagnosis and successful management.
