Detrended Fluctuation Analysis on the variation of Solar Energetic Particles during Solar Maximum and Minimum Periods

Abstract
The investigations related with solar energetic particles (SEPs) are of specific significance as they can harm life in outer space. In the current study, the long-range correlations or self-similarity of the SEPs, as a proxy for interplanetary fluxes, during different periods of solar cycle 23 has been analyzed. The global scaling exponent (\(\varvec{\alpha }\)-exponent) from robust detrended fluctuation analysis (r-DFA) is calculated for proton flux at various energies (> 1 MeV to > 100 MeV) for different years, which compare features of SEP flux during solar maximum and minimum years. The robust DFA scaling exponent of proton fluxes could establish relationships regarding persistency/anti-persistency between the SEPs at different energy levels with respect to solar activity.
