Abstract

Abstract

Effects on the induction of chloride in the reinforcements of geopolymer concrete are of greater importance in the current applications to study the prevention of corrosion in the field of marine engineering. Experiments on corrosion have been carried out in five different solutions with different concentrations and compositions from which the point of initial degradation of steel reinforcement was found out. Further on the density of corrosion that led to failure was analyzed in detail. From the tests carried out it was found that as the value of alkaline in the electrolyte increases the value of chloride threshold also increases. The effect of corrosion was found to decrease in geopolymer concrete when reinforcements have been immersed in calcium hydroxide as it improves the stability of the passive film created.
