Abstract
We report a simple and compact all-fiber erbium-doped mode-locked laser based on a microfiber-based Ti3SiC2 saturable absorber. Self-starting mode locking at 1566 nm in this erbium-doped fiber laser (EDFL) was achieved at a threshold pump power of 90 mW, delivering a pulse train with a repetition rate of 3.9 MHz, a pulse width of 13 ns, and a pulse spectral width of 7.4 nm. The findings of this study allow Ti3SiC2 to be added to the growing catalog of nanomaterials for future nonlinear photonics.
