On the Stability of Artificial Collinear Points in the Restricted Three Body Problem under a Force Acting between the Primaries

Abstract

Abstract In this work, the collinear libration points in the circular ristricted three body problem are studied under the influence of applying a radial force. The problem is formulated with the addition of a force acting in the direction of the line between the two primaries. The positions of the collinear libration points and the stability conditions are found. The points L1 and L3 are poved to be always unstable under the existence of of a radial accelration, and the conditions for stability of L2 are found.
