Abstract

Abstract Introduction: Gall bladder papillary carcinoma (GBPA) is a distinct variant of gall bladder carcinoma with a favorable outcome in contrast to the conventional Gall bladder adenocarcinoma (GBA). Case Presentation: We herein present a case of a 51-year-old female patient who had abdominal pain off and on for one month. Computed tomography (CT) scan of the abdomen revealed features of chronic cholecystitis with thickened gall bladder wall. Cholecystectomy of the patient revealed an invasive papillary adenocarcinoma with metastasis to the pericholecystic lymph node. The patient was given chemotherapy and doing well for the past two years and is free of any disease recurrence. Conclusion: The (GBPA) is uncommon and usually comprises of 5% of conventional (GBA). It is usually detected at an early stage with less propensity to metastasis. Therefore, clinicians and pathologists must accurately diagnose this as a separate entity to avoid unnecessary aggressive treatment or reduce morbidity.
