Abstract

Abstract Parental involvement is essential in today's modern educational system because it improves school administration and student achievement. The study aimed to explain the value of parents helping their kids become good students who are accepted and motivated to learn for better. A single case study conducted by using qualitative research methodology was carried out in order to explore a) how does parental involvement affect students’ academic performance in public schools? This study included in-depth interviews, document reviews, and observation of the one sampled school and four selected participants. In order to improve children's overall academic attainment in public schools, this study examines relevant policies and pinpoints parental involvement methods. The social theories are used to better understand and discuss parental involvement in school setting. This study reveals that parental involvement is necessary for children’s learning and improve academic performance in public schools. The involvement of parents can be enhanced through a) giving more value to children education, b) enhancing parents-teachers’ relation and interactions, c) fostering home involvement in the holistic educational process, and d) strengthening school’s good governance and management. We conclude that there is a need to investigate a broad framework for parental involvement that includes decentralized administration and flexibility for creativity. Additionally, networking between parents, teachers, and schools is essential. In order to improve the learning environment and guarantee academic brilliance in public schools, it is necessary to examine how to foster parental involvement and develop networks among parents.
