Abstract
Abstract
Disruptions to ports from climate extremes can have systemic impacts on global shipping, trade and supply chains. By combining analysis of climatic risks at 1320 ports worldwide with a global model of transport flows, we pinpoint systemic risks to maritime transport, trade and global supply-chain networks as a result of port downtime. We estimate a total of 81 USD billion of global trade and 122 USD billion of economic activity being at-risk on average annually.
