Abstract

Abstract It is essential to use image quality measuring metrics tools that can provide accurate and close to perceived quality sense of the tested images. Such tools give metrics that can be used to compare the performance of compression algorithms. In this paper, two new metrics to measure the quality of decompressed images are proposed. Compared with other metrics e.g. peak signal to noise ratio (PSNR) and root mean square error (RMSE), the proposed metrics give values with the closest reflection of image quality perception by the human eye.
