Abstract
Abstract
Background: Cerebral infarction may occur in patients with aortic dissection. Some neurologists gave intravenous thrombolysis for cerebral infarction without paying more attention to asymptomatic aortic dissection.
Methods/Results: We report the case of a 66-year-old female presenting with unconsciousness who was admitted to our hospital. During intravenous thrombolysis (IVT) with alteplase(rt-PA), the patient died suddenly. One-stop skull and neck CT scan was reviewed during the discussion of the death case, asymptomatic aortic dissection was found.
Conclusion:IVT with rt-PA in patient with acute cerebral infarction and asymptomatic aortic dissection may lead to lethal outcomes. Although uncommon, recognition of aortic dissection in patient with acute cerebral infarction is important.
