Abstract
The present paper describes an inverse analysis technique to obtain material flow stress law from experimental measurements of rolling torque. This was developed coupling a mathematical model of rolling, able to predict rolling torque, with a mathematical optimizer which minimizes the difference between experimental values and model prediction in terms of torque by means of an objective function. It is known that FEM is able to well predict forming loads and material behavior in rolling process with an high accuracy. For this reason, numerical tests were performed using FEM in order to obtain rolling torque values in place of experimental measurements, in order to validate the developed strategy.
