Abstract
Abstract
Introduction-Objectives: Previous studies have demonstrated the lack of a universal measurement system or gold standard, prompting the development of a scale using the most representative theoretical and empirical models. The objective of this study is to validate the scale and investigate the factors that influence it.
Methodology: A validation study was conducted through a cross-sectional descriptive observational study of nursing consultations of chronic patients located in a hospital.
Results: The scale under study had a reliability of 0.846, with an interclass correlation of 0.149. The scale was modified with nine items, resulting in a reliability of 0.750 and an intraclass correlation of 0.835. There was a good correlation between the socioeconomic data and the characteristics of the dwelling. In regression models, these data (socioeconomic and housing) seemed to have the highest incidence.
Discussion: The data, as in other studies, confirmed the values of risk factors that affect adherence values, emphasizing socioeconomic and housing data. The modified scale presented acceptable reliability data.
Conclusions: The scale can be used to measure adherence to patients with chronic diseases; however, it would be useful to increase the number of patients under study and achieve representativeness in each chronic disease.
