Abstract

Abstract We extend Koomson and Danquah (2021, EP) in order to understand if and how the age of the household head matters in the incidence of financial inclusion on energy poverty in Ghana. We revisit the underlying study within a framework of interactive regressions in order to establish household head ages that should be avoided in order for financial inclusion to continuously reduce energy poverty. In the estimation exercise that is based on pooled data and two stage least squares, we establish a negative net effect from the role of household head age in moderating the incidence of financial inclusion on energy poverty. An extended analysis provides household head ages that should be avoided in order for financial inclusion to reduce energy poverty. These critical household head ages are contingent on the area of household (i.e. rural versus urban) as well as the gender of household age( male versus female).
