Abstract
Abstract
Objectives
This work aimed to explore and describe undergraduate medical interns' perception of their training during the Covid-19 pandemic.
Methods
A qualitative study based on grounded theory was carried out, and the data was obtained from the focus group technique. Five sessions were held with the participation of eight internal physicians in each one.
Results
The main concerns expressed by Medical Interns were academic, social, and emotional. They noted their concerns about the lack of clinical practice and the increase in the severity of symptoms of anxiety and depression that they presented during the outbreak.
Conclusions
The medical interns' perception was that the pandemic revealed the increased vulnerability due to the evident increase in the number of students with anxiety and depression. In addition, they called on the authorities to reduce stigmatization among health personnel suffering from emotional disorders and increase the presence of psychological support services in hospitals.
