Abstract

Abstract

Determining the concentration of heavy metals present in meat samples collected from different localities is a major goal. The concentrations of Cr and Ni were determined by atomic absorption spectrophotometry, and the readings were compared with international standard values of these metals. The results indicated the distribution of heavy metals in all the samples. The results were compared with threshold permissible limits established by the WHO. A significant increase in the concentrations of Cr and NI was observed in all the samples. Heavy metals have become a major health issue in Pakistan, which makes it important to determine the contamination level of soil, water and food sources.
