Abstract

We discuss various properties of the new modulus of smoothness ?? k,r (f(r), t)p := sup 0<h?t ?Wr kh(?)?k h?(?)(f(r), ?)? Lp[?1,1], where ?(x):= ?1?x2 and W?(x) = (1-x)-??(x)/2)(1+x???(x)/2))1/2. Related moduli with more general weights are also considered.
