Abstract

Currently, there is a tendency in the world to increase the frequency of occurrence of cognitive disorders of various etiologies, due to both an increase in the proportion of the elderly population and an improvement in diagnostic capabilities. Nevertheless, most cases of dementia are still diagnosed at late stages, presenting huge economic, social and medical problems. The reasons for this are insufficient early diagnosis of cognitive impairment and the lack of a unified database of epidemiological data on the prevalence and incidence of dementia, as well as insufficient awareness of the population and stigmatization of the diagnosis of "Dementia". Knowledge of the main differential diagnostic differences of cognitive disorders in various nosologies will allow timely diagnosis in order to identify, prescribe specific treatment and subsequent monitoring of the dynamics of the condition of patients with cognitive impairment and dementia.
