Abstract
The presence of chemical bonds and the dependency of the bandgap ( QUOTE ) on the conjugated bonds system of polyacryonitrile (PAN) gel were studied by Infrared (IR) spectroscopy and UV-visible spectroscopy respectively. Solubility rate of the various gel samples confirmed the type of cross-linking processes. The PAN gels prepared at (60 QUOTE and ( QUOTE -10 QUOTE ) indicated an approximate bandgap values of 2.7 eV and 3.6 eV respectively. The formed PAN gels at elevated temperatures are promising materials for organic semiconductor applications.
