An interleaved high step‐up DC–DC converter based on coupled‐inductor

Abstract

AbstractThis paper proposes an interleaved coupled‐inductor high step‐up direct current (DC)–DC converter. This converter uses a coupled inductor (CI), a voltage multiplier (VM) integrated with a regenerative passive lossless clamp circuit to enhance the voltage conversion ratio. The interleaved structure is used as the front stage of the proposed converter to reduce the input current ripple. The proposed converter has benefits such as low voltage stress across semiconductor elements, high voltage gains, and continuous input current, which makes it suitable for applications such as renewable energy sources. In addition, to reduce the negative effects of leakage inductance and recover the energy stored in it, a diode‐capacitor clamp circuit is used. Moreover, a comprehensive analysis has been done on the details of the performance of the proposed converter in different operation modes. Also, its design, the voltage and current equations of all the elements, and efficiency analysis are obtained. In addition, a comprehensive comparison has been made with some similar converters. The experimental results of a prototype with 260 W 96.9% is presented to validate the performance of the proposed converter.
