Abstract

This work is a reflection on the effect of the effects of climate change in the training of engineers, based on the content analysis of primary sources (Reports of the World Climate Summits, Evaluation Reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, IPCC and scientific articles related to the subject). The aim is to identify problems derived by climate change and their correspondence with the tasks related to the engineering career that should play an important role in the design of the education in engineering. The results of the analysis show nine factors that allow to explain what climate change is; what is happening; which are the causes, the extension and consequences; points out the anthropogenic responsibility and determines the lines for human and environmental security and protection, including the funding problem. The analysis allows to infer the professional competences and aptitudes that should be included in the educational curricula of all engineering studies, highlighting the scientific and human points of view required by engineers nowadays. Keywords: climate change, content analysis, curricula, engineering training, study plans, professional competences.
