Investigation of Violence Perception in Adolescents and Early Adults According to Recreational Physical Activity, Harmful Habits and Demographic Variables

Abstract

More than 1.6 million people worldwide die each year due to violence. This rate makes violence one of the leading causes of death in the world. The aim of the research designed from this point of view; To examine the violence perceptions of university students who are in the last period of adolescence and who have just come out of adolescence in terms of gender, income status, duration of recreational physical activity and smoking/alcohol use variables. In this study, descriptive scanning design and simple random sampling method were used. According to the findings, a significant difference was found between gender, income status, participation in recreational physical activity, and alcohol-cigarette use. As a result, it has been determined that there is a significant difference between the increase in the participation time in recreational physical activities and the attitudes towards violence. In addition, as the weekly recreational physical activity duration increased, it was determined that the average of attitudes towards violence decreased.
