Abstract
Crude solar salt in Indonesia can be used as industrial salt by increasing its purity. This study aims to make industrial salt from crude solar salt by using hydroextractor tools. This research also aims to know the effect of variable leaching amount, ratio of feed and solvent on the quality of industrial salt, and %losses produced. This study applies a hydroextraction method in purification of crude solar salt. The hydroextraction method can break impurity of crude solar salt by using saturated salt solution, so that salt produced more be purity. Industrial salt is produced using hydroextractor tools equipped with a stirring motor in the form of a screw as a place of extraction between crude solar salt and saturated salt solution according to variables. The results of the analysis which showed the highest NaCl concentration were in the ratio of feed and solvent 3:3 with 3 times leaching, that is equal to 95.6%, while the lowest NaCl concentration were in the ratio of feed and solvent 2:4 with 1 times leaching, that is equal to 84.6%.
