1. Upon completion of the reaction as judged by TLC, (toluene/EtOAc, 1:1) the mixture was diluted with dichloromethane (10 mL) and filtered through a bed of silica gel. The filtrate was washed with water (10 mL), brine and the combined extracts were dried over Na 2 SO 4 . Removal of the drying agent by filtration followed by concentration of the filtrate under reduced pressure afforded the crude material as an off-white solid.
