This policy threatened the U.S. based United Fruit Company, which had its biggest banana plantations in Guatemala, and so the U.S. government plotted the change in leadership. 50 Another covert operation was used in Cuba to try to spark a revolution to overthrow Fidel Castro, however, this policy failed. 51 The U.S. also interfered in the Korean War and Vietnam War, both of which were conflicts between communist territory backed by the Soviet Union and the democratic territory backed by the U.S. government.
