Abstract
Neurosecretory cells in Lymnaea are the follower cells of a network of interneurones consisting of four different cell types, three of which are inhibitory and one excitatory. One identified interneurone, the visceral white interneurone (VWI), inhibits the Yellow Cells and Yellow-green Cells, or converts Yellow Cells from single spiking to doubletting or bursting. A second interneurone, RPeDl, has weak inhibitory effects on both types of neurosecretory cells but its main effect is to inhibit the VWI and allow the Yellow Cells to be strongly influenced by spontaneous EPSP inputs (input 3).
