Abstract
Athyreus MacLeay, 1819 is one of the most diverse genera within Athyreini, with 45 species in Central and South America; 24 species are recorded from Brazil. Here, we describe a remarkable multi-horned species, Athyreus joseferreirai sp. nov. from Brazil, with illustrations of the male holotype and female paratype a map for the type locality. The male of A. joseferreirai sp. nov. has seven horns in the pronotum, a character not observed in any male of its congener species.
