Information Literacy Competence on Social Media Use Against Scholarly Communication

Abstract

The chapter examines information literacy competence on social media use against scholarly communication. A case study among faculty members and scholars in the faculty of management of Alagappa University, India. 340 respondents participated from eight departments, with the majority of them 51(15%) of them from Alagappa Institute of Management. sex and Age wise respondents of study, the higher potion of population being male with 238 (70%), less than half in the respondents 102 (30%) were female. The study witnesses the multiple responses about usage the different social Medias listed in the table. Majority of 324(95.29%) of them preferred face book. The respondents 11.47%, 10%, 0.35%, 0.41%, 0.35%, 0.32% and 0.55% of them have witnessed as ‘'Not Satisfied'' with Academia, LinkedIn, Research Gate, Mendeley, Google Scholar, Web of Science and Scopus respectively.
