Abstract
The objectives of the present study were to investigate the influences of demographics and social media site preferences. The data were analyzed by using SPSS 23 statistical analysis software package. The results of the study were obtained by applying the normality test, for simple percentage analyses on the obtained data. When the chi-square analysis between the opinions of social science scholars concerning the level of use of social media and the level of use of academic research was examined, a positive and significant analysis was found between them. The sample comprised 623 social science scholars. The numbers of this study were: male 335 (53.8%) and female 288 (46.2%), 13.0%, and 12.9% of respondents preferred WhatsApp at Annamalai University. 12.0% of the respondents prefer YouTube from Alagappa University.
