Abstract
There are currently 54 countries in Africa, with South Sudan being the newest internationally recognized country. Africa has a long history with colonialism, with most of the countries having been colonized by Britain, France, Spain, Germany, Portugal, Italy, and Belgium. Different African countries attained their independence at different times, with Ghana being the first country to receive its independence in 1957. During the colonial era, governments did not invest a lot of resources into the education of the African students. Consequently, most African children did not receive any education as parents could not afford sending their children to private schools. The education of students with disabilities was out of goodwill from churches, missionaries, and other humanitarian organizations.
