Abstract
Identification of potential therapeutic targets through the development of effective and safe clinical drug candidates, the approach involves the application of natural sciences. For effective drug development, cross-disciplinary cooperation and the application of a range of techniques and technologies are essential. The chapter emphasizes the value of mathematics in the dosage optimization, understanding of enzymatic mechanisms, in silico screening of chemical databases, and prognostication of clinical outcomes. Reduced hazards, financial gain, and patient assistance are the three main goals of new medicine development. The chapter also highlights the value of complementary medicine and the role that natural sciences play in its practice, particularly in terms of strengthening TCM's comprehension of the physiological functioning of the body. By providing guidance on how to use herbal medicines and supporting research on the efficacy and safety of well-known herbs and essential oils, pharmacology plays a significant role in complementary medicine.
