Abstract
Development of innovative nanomaterials for multifunctional application in photo-catalysis, electro-chemical sensing etc. are gaining extraordinary importance worldwide. In this sense, several metal chalcogenides nano-materials, such as FeS, CdS, ZnS, Fe3O4 etc., nano-materials and their composite have been synthesized and established as effective heterogenous recyclable catalyst for conducting several photochemical and electrochemical reactions. When the nano-materials have the ability to absorb solar light energy, the performance for photo-catalytic reactions has been increased much more. In this chapter it has been elaborated that how the solar energy can be used to drive different organic reactions pathway for green synthesis as well as to develop decomposition of organic pollutants in waste-water treatment. Another interesting function of the same nano-materials in the field of bio-technology has been expounded based on its superior electro-catalytic and bio-sensing activity towards hydrogen peroxide and glucose for determination of diabetic disease.
