Abstract
Pilgrimage is one of the oldest and most fundamental forms of population mobility known to human civilization, and its political, social, cultural, and economic ramifications have always been and continue to be significant. Pilgrimages and tourism are inextricably linked. The tourism business attracts a considerable number of “local visitors,” who mostly visit pilgrimage sites. Pilgrimage tourism contributes significantly to travel marketing. Traveling for religious reasons is becoming increasingly important these days. It is a long-standing tradition in many regions of the world. People in traditional Indian living place high value on spiritual things and frequently visit sacred locations. Various ceremonies and offerings are conducted at pilgrim centers to atone for sins. Over the last three decades, a fresh focus on pilgrimage has evolved from tourism scholars who have investigated fascinating political, cultural, behavioral, economic, and geographical study themes. Pilgrimage tourism is important for socio-economic growth.
