Abstract
The authors study the contribution of some classics of medieval and renaissance romance literature to therapeutic writing and bibliotherapy as a means to encourage reading and writing during a pandemic lockdown (in times of pandemic, privation of freedom, or illness). They analyze the cases of the French duke Charles d'Orléans, the Valencian knight Jordi de Sant Jordi, and renaissance author Joan Roís de Corella. In addition, they reflect on the everlasting power and therapeutic value of the written word (reading and writing) since the time of the Egyptian pharaohs.
