Abstract
Quality is the keyword for Industry Revolution 4.0, as industries have moved from product based to customer-based manufacturing. People have started moving towards the quality rather than the cost of the product. The automobile section is deemed to be a major manufacturing sector as multiple components required for assembling final product. Bearing is a major component in the engine to operate the piston. The inspection of component done 100% manually where time is high, in turn delay in dispatch. A proposed automated machine vision system (MVS) is used to identify missing operations, also detect scratches in surface of the component. The algorithm is developed using LabVIEW, in which detection-based algorithm is implemented to detect the missing operations in the component. An artificial intelligent (AI) based algorithm is proposed for detecting the scratches that occurred due to the manufacturing process/mishandling of component. The implemented algorithm has shown better results compared with the manual process, as inspection time has reduced, and the number of components inspected has increased.
