Abstract

Despite the increasing investments in physical infrastructure, developing countries have been identified to be below par in meeting the basic infrastructure needs of their populace. However, rural areas when compared to urban remain neglected in infrastructure investments. Owing to this, selected rural dwellers through community collaborative responses driven by the personal, government, or international donors resulted in communal infrastructure provision in their communities. This form of response to infrastructure dearth by the rural dwellers can be seen as an adaptive response to the shock of poor service delivery. Using mixed method, this study examines the roles played by village dwellers in infrastructure provision. The study finding shows that capital or resource remittance places a key role in communal infrastructure projects. The study concluded that an improved rural actor and community collaborative involvement is needed in sustaining rural infrastructure needs.
