Abstract
Student engagement in the online classroom is more important than ever for both traditional and non-traditional students. In this chapter, many strategies will be presented to enhance the student learning experience by empowerment, motivational communication, inclusive learning environments, interdisciplinary teaching, and assessment. The recommendations presented in this chapter are best practices that have positively impacted the learning journey of science and mathematics online at California Baptist University. Instructors are encouraged throughout the chapter to creatively find ways to teach and assess the diverse group of students to better meet their unique needs and learning abilities.
