Abstract
Collaborative consumption (CC) is an innovative model with the potential to transform how individuals produce and consume resources. CC is the concept of using technology to share resources for monetary or non-monetary gain. Although CC is common in many countries, the concept of sharing is relatively new to Indian customers. Increasing knowledge and acknowledgement of the benefits of CC, including efficient resource usage and sustainability, are leading to the emergence of numerous platforms in India. This study presents the outcomes of a three-month survey of 614 Indian customers between October and December 2022 to determine their awareness of CC categories and platforms. Using descriptive statistics, the information was evaluated. The study found that participants between the ages of 18 and 24 are highly motivated and aware of potential forms of CC and existing platforms. Some of the most well-known platforms are Ola, Airbnb, and Oyo. The study revealed the necessity to educate future CC users, particularly in the fashion and lifestyle market category.
