Abstract
The chapter is devoted to the technological aspects of computer simulation and its application in solving specific problems. In the first part, a comparison of the features and possibilities of simulation and emulation is made. In addition, the main advantages of simulation and possible disadvantages are discussed, the mine phases in simulation model developing are presented and clarifying its adequacy is made. In the second section, the possible simulation approaches determined by the type of events and time are presented, which are discrete-even simulation with discrete time intervals between request and continuous simulation based on continuous sequences in time. A combination of these methods is presented too. The third section discusses the two mine structural components of a simulation model which can be named system model and workload model. Different examples for application of computer simulation are presented in the last section, which are united in the directions – simulation of service systems, simulation of parallel computer architecture and remote access simulation.
