Abstract
In this chapter, the focus is on promoting culturally responsive instructional strategies and the development of thinking dispositions to enhance the academic engagement of BIPOC youth. It explores the role of leaders in guiding educators through professional learning communities, fostering pedagogy that is rooted in student experiences, and creating a relevant teaching framework in urban school settings. It will also look at best practices for cultivating change within urban schools that directly impact the success of BIPOC youth.
