Abstract
The school-to-prison pipeline (STPP) is the metaphor that describes the phenomenon and correlation of school discipline events to the increased involvement with the juvenile justice system. To cut off the pipeline, teachers, staff members, and administrators can develop culturally responsive approaches rather than use traditional punitive measures. Although this helped shift the focus on better working with students, it did not consider previous trauma, poverty, and other circumstances that impact students' behavior and decision-making skills. Today's demands suggest the need for additional school support mechanisms.
