Abstract
An increasing numbers of school systems are implementing high leverage practices (HLP) as a framework, for assisting students who struggle with learning. HLP is a set of practices that are fundamental to supporting K–12 student learning. It consists of four areas (e.g., collaboration, assessment, instruction, and social/emotional/behavioral) with 22 practices that define the areas. This chapter examines HLP as a framework for providing assistance to students with academic challenges. The implications of HLP for good teachers, as shepherds, are examined in light of the Gospel model of Jesus as the Good Shepherd.
