Abstract

Fast change and transformation also has a deep effect on organizations as well as their leaders and employees. Hence, if organizations want to be successful or simply stay afloat, they need effective leaders. Leadership, which can be defined as the process of influencing the behavior of individuals and groups in reaching the goals by the organization, has become more important than ever in the era of change, transformation, and ambiguity. In this context, the aim of this chapter is to examine the concept of leadership, which is one of the main determinants in the achievement of organizational goals, its historical development, prominent leadership theories, leadership competencies, the effect of personality on leadership, the effect of leadership on teams, and leadership team building.
