Abstract
Nov-verbal learning disability is a condition for learner functioning at school. This condition affects the social life of a learner. Non-verbal learning disability (NLD) is presented as the central focus in this chapter. It begins with literature that clarifies what NLD is, how it manifests in various contexts, how it has been diagnosed from the Western viewpoint, and how it should be understood according to the African perspectives underlined. In this chapter, elements of the Ubuntu philosophy that promote connectedness amongst stakeholders in order to support children in schools are also exposed. NLD has been evaluated in a medical model and the African philosophy gives a new perspective on how children should be supported in classrooms. Therefore, in order to understand NLD from an African perspective, various support strategies, how NLD affect children's health and the Ubuntu philosophy is highlighted.
