Abstract
This chapter describes what multiple sclerosis is. It looks at clinical features and subtypes of multiple sclerosis, its causes, and how it could be treated from an African point of view. In addition, this chapter aimed to explore the unique experiences of individuals living with MS within the African context, with a specific focus on the challenges faced by these individuals and the support and or resources that help them to cope with their experiences or condition. Multiple sclerosis is the most common neurological disorder to affect young adults in the developed world. It is a chronic, progressive neurological condition that is unpredictable and for which no solution has been found. Placement of students with MS in ordinary schools among other students without disabilities becomes a necessity because their participation in education is a critical issue the world over, with the emphasis on the education and rights of persons with disabilities.
