Abstract
Prader Willi Syndrome is a genetic disorder that causes obesity, intellectual disability, and shortness, affecting a part of chromosome 15, usually passed by father. From Nigeria's point of view, Prader Willi Syndrome is called Ara-asanju, Ode and Arara. The main purpose of this chapter is to enlighten the readers on Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) from African perspective. The objectives are to familiarize readers with the meaning of Prader-Willi Syndrome, symptoms, and diagnosis of Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) from African view. It also exposes the reader to causes of Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) and various treatment strategies that could be used in dealing with individuals with Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS).
