Abstract

This chapter analyzes a case study of an extensive metropolitan library system in the United States and discusses the importance of cultural competence for a public organization. It shares the promising practices in translating cultural competence into developing an inclusive environment, democratic leadership, a diverse workforce, and vibrant communities to improve democracy and civic engagement.
