Abstract

About 284 million people in the world are visually impaired, out of which about 34 million people are blind. When a survey was taken about the difficulties that they go through in life, most of the people reported that they feel dependent on their helpers. One of the problems many of them faced is being able to arrange their clothes and decide on what to wear on their own. In this research work, the authors have attempted to solve this particular problem that they face to take them a step towards an independent life. In this study, a camera was used to capture the image of the clothing and convert the visual wavelength captured into the programmed frequency of light and match that frequency with the respective frequency of sound so that a pattern is formed by the emission of sound frequencies, making it a way for the visually impaired to perceive the colors of the clothing. Further, color theory about the analogous colors, contrasting colors, etc., can be used by the system to make suggestive matches. When a suggestive match is made, the device vibrates.
